The well prepared journey of Bugabula in the 2022 BusogaMasazaCup was stroke with a hug blow after the penalty shootout that sealed Kigulu’e victory a 5 : 4 goals after drawing with 1:1 in the semi finals at the Kyabazinga stadium Bugembe.
Tamubula ismail’s 28th-minute goal gave Kigulu a lead against Bugabula. Bugabula’s hope was revived through kazindula Majidu Musisi’s 61st-minute header to make it 1-1.
In a tense shootout at the Kyabazinga Stadium Bugembe, Waiswa Kasango Rajab, the top scorer of this year’s tournament missed Bugabula’s last penalty denying his side a chance to qualify for their first finals of the Busoga Masaza Cup tournament.
Kigulu netted 5 of their 6 shots while Bugabula missed twice to end things 5-4 in favour of Kigulu
Kigulu will now meet Bukooli Namayingo side who Also progressed against Butembe on a 2-0 win at Kyabazinga stadium Bugembe.
The tough Encounter between the finalists (Kigulu & Bukooli Namayingo) that will be graced by HRH William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV is slated for the 13th of August at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja City .
History of the Busoga Masaza Cup Tournament!!
- 2016 Bukooli North (currently Bukooli Bugiri) won Bunha 3-1 and thus declared the champion. In 2017
- Butembe beat Bunha 4-3 on penalties after the normal play ended 1-1.
- 2018 Kigulu won Butembe on penalties 5-4.
- 2019 Kigulu won Bunha 1-0.
In 2020 and 2021, the BusogaMasazaCup tournament was put on hold due to the outbreak of Covid19 pandemic.
KIGULU has won the tournament for the last 2 years that’s 2018, and 2019 and they have already secured a slot at the finals of this Year.
