Bukooli Namayingo win 2022 BusogaMasazaCup title after a thrilling final day for the ages; Bukooli’s first ever title since the tournament was put in place put an end to Kigulu’s smooth run of wining Three titles in a ROW.
The final Match that was graced by His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, took shape at exactly 3pm in Bugembe stadium at a pomp filled ceremony.
The only goal by Sanyu Ashiraf saw Bukooli Namayingo emerge as the BusogaMasazaCup Champions against Kigulu.
The tournament that was sponsored by MTN Uganda, Nile Special and Mayuge Suger Industries Limited ( MSIL) saw off the champions with a trophy and a cheque of Ugx.10 million, the first runners up Ugx.7 million, the second runners up Ugx.5 million and the fourth Ugx.3 million.
This year’s edition of the Busoga Masaza cup has seen Busoga unite and more talents discovered. Bugabula and Butembe have seen most of their players join Jinja North United a big-league team and many more players from different Masaza teams are being hunted by regional teams as they prepare for the 2022/2023 season.
Kasimba Abubakar from Kigulu was awarded best goal keeper of the tournament, Luuka’s Oketcho David awarded as Most Valuable Player Luuka- MVP and Rajab Kasango from Bugabula as top scorer.
