Crime preventers in Busoga North police region have warned the Busoga North region police commander Cosmos Ruganzu on his directive of impounding the motorcycles which were given to their coordinators in the whole region during the 2016 general elections.
The warning came after the RPC Ruganzu ordered all crime preventers in the four districts of Kaliro, Luuka, Kamuli and Buyende to return all the motorcycles siting irregularities and being used in bad activities by these crime preventers who were recently denounced by the President of Uganda Mr Museveni who per now are no longer under police but reserve force.
Buyende crime preventers have been already affected by the RPC order but those in Kaliro and Kamuli have warned RPC to go slow over them unless he will face the consquencies.
They called upon President Museveni and the speaker of parliament to intervene in their matter before it becomes chaotic.
Lubaale Mpeewo, the spokes person for the crime preventers and coordinators in Busoga North region police area revealed that no any crime prevention coordinator shall hand over motorcycle to police and noted that if it means shading blood over the motorcycles, they will do it.
Meanwhile, the Busoga North region police spokes person Micheal Kasadha refuted allegations and rumors by the crime preventers that the motorcycles in question were given to them to help police get information from the communities.
He said that after police realizing that some of the crime preventers misuse the motorcycles, the RPC decided to recall them and also audit them since they were given by police.
Kasadha advised the crime preventers to liaise with police and solve their issues amicably other than seeking solution from the media.
