
Traders and enforcement officers of Kira town council have disagreed over charges of operating businesses at Namugongo where thousands of pilgrim have converged to comemorate Uganda Martyrs Day tomorrow.
The traders say that the amount they are being asked is too much for them to raise in just three days yet they also paid for the place
which they are using to operate their businesses from. One Maureen, a food vendor says the authorities want Sh20,000 which is very unfair to them since they are working at a very low profit margins
Kiyaga Jackson who is the enforcement office at the Kira town council says traders litter the venue and therefore the money collected is used to clean the place.
He also said that it is true traders are paying at of money to the land lords who are hosting for the period they event is to finish.
He said that next year they are going to look into this and see that the traders don’t pay a lot of money in order for them also to make
profits.
