On Saturday all roads for sports enthusiasts led to Kakindu Stadium in Jinja for the official opening of the 4th Edition of the Busoga Masaza Cup.
Officiated by the Isebantu Kyabazinga wa Busoga, His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope,IV in company of the Kingdom Premier, Owek. Joseph Muvawala (Ph.D) and his deputies Owek. Muhammed Lubega (Ph.D) and Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed, the stadium was filled to capacity as spectators watched the opening game between Bunha Chiefdom FC and Butembe Chiefdom FC which ended 0-1 in favour of Bunha.
Over 13 teams are taking part in this year’s edition that is running under the Theme: “Talent identification, development and promotion” and being sponsored by Mayuge Sugar Industries Limited.
Earlier, there was a curtain raiser game between Kingdom Ministers and Busoga MPs which the latter won by one goal to nil
Butembe Chiefdom is the defending champion.
Present at the match were Busoga’s hereditary chiefs led by the Isabalangira, Chief Sam Menha Nkutu. Politicians also attended the event.
