So you are using the killings in Masaka to cripple NUP support in the area? Ssenyonyi to the Government
Yesterday, Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya and Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana were remanded to Kitalya prison on accounts of murder and attempted murder until September 15.
Their arrest is linked to the recent killings in Greater Masaka that witnessed over 30 deaths.
In response to the act taken by gov’t, NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi stated that it seems that the government is using the “bijjambiya” incident as an opportunity to fight NUP Party.
“They are trying to link the murders in Masaka to NUP. But we (NUP) got overwhelming votes in that area. Why would we want to kill people there? Someone is trying to create a diversion because of the mounting pressure,” said Ssenyonyi.
