Red Banton evicted from his rental house over arrears!!
The “Ssijja Kuva Kampala Nngaanye” hit maker is now sleeping on bed of thorns while trying to secure his little surviving belongings following his eviction from the house due to rent arrears.
It’s alleged that the singer had spent numerous months without pay which prompted the landlord to run out of patience and thus kicked him out of the house .
“Yes! I am the landlady of Red Banton. He has spent time without paying rent and I have nothing to do for him apart from kicking him out. I have been patient enough.” Landlady said.
The recently enacted tenancy bill:
i). empowers the landlord to evict the tenant in 30 days in case the latter fails to fulfill his/her legal obligations.
ii). Empowers the landlord to access tenants’ premises and forfeit their belongings to recover the accumulated arrears.
Red Banton was among the few lucky Ugandan artistes who performed for the Queen during her visit to Uganda for Commonwealth Heads of Gov’t Meeting, CHOGM in 2007.
