Police is still hunting for the driver of the car that knocked dead Kyebando Police Post commander, ASP Francis Kato.
Kato was yesterday knocked dead as he crossed the road by unidentified vehicle which allegedly reversed to ensure he was dead before it sped off.
Police say they suspect the killing was planned.
As of now police seems to be stranded in its investigations since they have not yet got any clues regarding the car that ASP Kato.
Police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, said: “We hope the driver on knowing this will turn himself in to record a statement with the police or else, we shall look for this driver with a view of investigating this killing for prosecution purposes.”
Statements obtained from eye witnesses by police indicate that the car that killed ASP Kato parked near a kiosk where he usually bought his snacks as early as 6am seemingly waiting for the opportune moment.
Kato’s relatives say he had told them that his life was under threat.
Born in 1985 in Fort Portal, records indicate that Kato joined police in 2014 and was passed out in 2015 as a Cadet and later confirmed as ASP in 2016. He was an ICT graduate from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).
