The Director Health Care In kabale District Dr Geoffrey Anguyo was the chief guest while commemorating the day of culture and world environment day at kyesero Bwindi kanungu through games and performances.
Dr Anguyo revealed that the reason why Africa is lagging behind is that people have failed to promote their culture and continue destroying wetlands for their own benefit.He pointed out that Africans have resorted to promoting European items leaving their own, thing that has dented our culture and development.
He pointed out that most diseases affecting Africans are as a result of using imported items citing chemicals,medicines and other consumables yet they are destroying trees which act as medicine.Dr Anguyo said diseases like cancer are on the increase as a result.
He applauded the head of CTT Afri Care Herbert Banobi for promoting tourism but said culture and behavioural change should also be considered. Banobi expressed concern over tourists who come into Uganda just to exploit the tourism sector and instead promoting their own culture.He called upon Government to maintain roads with in Bwindi and also support the tourism sector so that many are attracted in the country.
Deputy to the director Bwindi National park kayalimpa Tumwebaze commended Banobi but called upon Government to reconstruct roads with in the park saying Kanungu still posses the potential of riches then thinking of Bunyoro all the time.
