Kasese local government has asked UWA to be part of the petition which is going to be sent to the floor of parliament seeking expedite compensation of the crops which were destroyed by wild animals.
This was said in the district council which was held at Multipurpose hall when they were laying a budget of financial year 2018/19 law of compensation which will help to avert the farmers and wild animals.
Doreen Mbambu the district female councilor representing Karusandara sub county says that elephants think like human beings because they cover the trend which limits them cross with a lot of soil and cross to destroy their crops yet the government say everybody get rich.
Joan Muja a farmer says that they are not happy as farmers about the council because they gave them less time express their problems and called upon the government interference to find them a solution.
However ,Sibendere Bigogo Geofrey chairperson LCV Kasese district says that they are trying to collect enough data to make the recommendation and send it to the speaker to pass the law of Wild Life Authority amendment bill because these elephants escape from queen elizabeth national park to destroy people’s crops.
Nyakatonzi,Muhokya,Karusandara,Kanyangeya,Isango and Kilembe are the most affected areas.
