The speaker of parliament and Kamuli woman MP Rebecca Kadaga is bitterly scared with the statistics of early marriages and defilement which the plan area manager for east and Central region Francis Emukule revealed during the celebrations of the day of African child held at Nawanyago primary school, Nawanyago Sub county in Kamuli district under a theme ‘Leave n Uganda’s no child behind under Uganda’s developmet”.
Speaker Kadaga first commended the Kamuli district council for passing the ordinance which shall help to protect children in the district against domestic violence and other related cases which hinders their growth and development.
Kadaga said as a country, they need to wake up and save the young generation.
Thomas Kategere, the Kamuli district LCV boss appealed to the parents to play their role in children upbringing before blaming government.
He urged children to decist from early sexual activities which results into early pregnancies and school dropouts.
