Jinja municipality is littered with waste following the breakdown of garbage trucks.
The five garbage trucks which include three Taata and two Benz lorries are all grounded.

The Jinja municipal council spokesman,Rajib Kiito says the trucks are incapacitated and prone to mechanical break downs because of old age.
In 2014,Jinja municipal council contracted Bisons Limited,private firm to collect garbage the streets and residential houses but the contract expired on 31st January,2018 and was not renewed.
On a weekly basis,the council collects between two and three tons of garbage from the three divisions of Jinja central,Mpumudde Kimaka and Walukuba Masese.
