Real Madrid superstar Cristiano  Ronaldo was   awarded the 2017 fifth Ballon d’Or in a glitzy ceremony at the Eiffel Tower  and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi finished as runner-up while Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar came in third place

He is now tied with his rival Messi on five Ballon d’Or awards – the most of any player in history
