Kamuli district education officer Charles Akoyo has threatened to interdict any teacher who absconds from work.
He made the warning during an emergency PTA meeting held at Mbulamuti primary school, Mbulamuti Sub county in Kamuli district where parents petitioned the office of the DEO, LC3 demanding to know why their Mathematics teacher Paul Mutebe was transferred.
DEO Akoyo revealed that most of the teachers resorted to boda boda riding and they no-longer want to attend to the children and when it comes to picking salaries, they are the first to go to banks.
He has threatened to interdict and penalize whoever will be found guilty of not doing his or her work.
The area LC3 chairperson for Mbulamuti sub county Mr Stephen Gwaivu urged parents to stop rumour mongering in the school urging them to focus on clearing the school dues and also feed their children at schools instead of concentrating on non-profitable businesses.
Parents accuse the school head teacher Mr George Napeera for witch-hunting Mr. Paul Mutebe who was later transferred from their school.
The teacher in question declined to attend the meeting noting that he was not notified about in time.
It is alleged that Mawerere was transferred from Mbulamuti primary school to Kagumba primary school where he has failed to report up to now.
Efforts to reach teacher Mawerere were futile since his known mobile number was off by the time he was contacted.
